Academic Scholarship



The priority deadline for this scholarship is March 1. Late applicants can be considered after that date pending available funds. The Academic Scholarship is based on academic achievement. Initial recipients must meet all of the following:
  • Enroll for a minimum of six (6) credit hours each semester (awards pro-rated on credit hours)
  • Must not have an associate’s or bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.9
  • Transfer students must have successfully completed 12 credit hours with a minimum GPA of 2.9
  • (students with less than 12 credit hours will be considered as first-time freshmen).
  • Renewal requires maintenance of a 2.5 cumulative GPA as well as semester GPAs of 2.5 or better.
  • Renewal applicants must reapply each year by the priority deadline in order to maintain eligibility.





ADHIMA Health Information Management Scholarship



The priority deadline for this scholarship is March 1. Late applicants can be considered after that date pending available funds.
  • Must be enrolled in the Health Information Management Program.
  • Demonstrate financial need based on the FAFSA.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • May be enrolled for a minimum of six hours and still receive the full award amount.
  • Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
  • May be awarded with other Foundation Scholarships or other types of aid.
  • Students with existing postsecondary degrees are not eligible.
  • Preference will be given to students who submit a 250-word essay. The topic for the essay is Why do I want to be a Health Information Management professional?





Adman Electric Health Science Scholarship



The priority deadline for this scholarship is March 1. Late applicants can be considered after that date pending available funds.
  • Must be enrolled in a College Allied Health Program or TCAT/Practical Nursing, Surgical Technology, or Medical Assisting Program.
  • Preference will be given to students enrolled at least 12 semester hours, unless program is approved for less.
  • Students enrolled for a minimum of six hours will be considered for scholarships on a pro-rated basis.
  • Demonstrate financial need based on the FAFSA.
  • Maintain a minimum cumulative College GPA of 2.5.
  • Students with existing postsecondary degrees are eligible.

Adult Services Scholarship



The priority deadline for this scholarship is March 1. Late applicants can be considered after that date pending available funds.
  • Must be enrolled in a credit program offered at the College.
  • Must be a non-traditional student age forty or over.
  • Preference will be given to students enrolled at least 12 semester hours, unless program is approved for less.
  • Students enrolled for a minimum of six hours will be considered for scholarships at the full award amount.
  • Maintain good academic standing.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Demonstrate financial need based on the FAFSA.
  • Students with existing postsecondary degrees are eligible.

AIA Chattanooga Scholarship



  • Students must be enrolled in Chattanooga State’s Engineering & Information Technologies Division program with a Design/Drafting Concentration.
  • Students must be enrolled a minimum of twelve (12) credit hours each semester, unless program is approved for less.
  • This award may cover a student’s unmet need up to their cost of attendance.
  • Students must maintain a minimum cumulative college GPA of 2.5.
  • Students with existing post-secondary degrees are eligible.
  • Undocumented students are eligible for this scholarship.
  • If invited, students receiving this scholarship are encouraged to attend an event sponsored by AIA Chattanooga.
  • Scholarships can be awarded in conjunction with other Foundation scholarships.
  • Scholarships can be awarded in conjunction with other types of federal, state, and/or institutional aid.

Amedisys Home Health Services Scholarship



The priority deadline for this scholarship is March 1. Late applicants can be considered after that date pending available funds.
  • Must be enrolled in Registered Nursing, Practical Nursing, or the Physical Therapist Assistant program.
  • Preference will be given to qualified prior academic year recipients.
  • Not based or considered on financial need.
  • Maintain a minimum cumulative College GPA of 2.5.
  • Must be residents of Tennessee or Georgia.
  • Be enrolled at least 12 semester hours, unless program is approved for less.
  • May be awarded with other Foundation Scholarships or other types of aid.
  • Students with existing postsecondary degrees are eligible.
  • Preference will be given to students who exemplify good character traits as indicated by their personal references and/or personal statement.
  • Recipients are encouraged to utilize an opportunity to do clinical shadowing with Amedisys staff if offered.

American National Bank and Trust Company Scholarship



The priority deadline for this scholarship is March 1. Late applicants can be considered after that date pending available funds.
  • Must be majoring in a Business or Accounting Program.
  • Entering freshmen must have a minimum High School GPA of 2.9.
  • Minimum ACT of 19.

Annette Dotson Memorial Scholarship for Nuclear Medicine Technology



The priority deadline for this scholarship is March 1. Late applicants can be considered after that date pending available funds.
  • Students must be enrolled in the Nuclear Medicine Technology program offered at the College.
  • All Nuclear Medicine Technology students are encouraged to apply for this scholarship if they intend to participate in Chattanooga State’s Study Abroad Program.
  • Students must be enrolled in the Global Experiences in Nuclear Medicine course.
  • Students receiving this award must be accepted in Chattanooga State’s Study Abroad Program (determined in March of each year).
  • This award may cover a student’s unmet need up to their cost of attendance.

Arthur MacFadden Scholarship



The priority deadline for this scholarship is March 1. Late applicants can be considered after that date pending available funds.
  • Must be majoring in Business Management, Business Law, or Accounting.
  • Maintain a minimum cumulative College GPA of 2.5.
  • Entering freshmen must have a minimum High School GPA of 2.9.





ASNT Chattanooga Section Scholarship



The priority deadline for this scholarship is March 1. Late applicants can be considered after that date pending available funds.
  • Students must be enrolled in the Engineering Technology Program with a Non-Destructive Testing Technology Concentration at the College .
  • Preference will be given to students who have completed at least one full semester in Non-Destructive Testing Technology at the college.
  • Students must be enrolled full-time each semester unless program is approved for fewer hours.
  • Students must demonstrate financial need according to federal methods on the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) form.
  • Students must maintain a minimum college GPA of 2.5 (current and cumulative).
  • Students with existing postsecondary degrees are eligible.
  • Preference will be given to United States citizens.
  • Students must be residents of the College's six-county service area of Southeast Tennessee and bordering counties in Georgia and Alabama.
  • Scholarships can be awarded in conjunction with other Foundation scholarships.

Baroness Erlanger Scholarship



The priority deadline for this scholarship is March 1. Late applicants can be considered after that date pending available funds.
  • Must be enrolled in the Registered Nursing Program, LPN to RN Transition Program, or Paramedic to RN Transition Program.
  • Preference will be given to students preparing to enter the second year of the Registered Nursing Program, but qualified first year students are also eligible and will be considered.
  • Be enrolled at least 12 semester hours, unless program is approved for less.
  • Maintain a minimum cumulative College GPA of 3.0.
  • Financial need is not a factor to be considered.
  • Students with existing postsecondary degrees are eligible.
  • Preference will be given to students who exemplify good character traits as indicated by their personal references and/or personal statement on the ChSCC Scholarship Application.
  • May be awarded with other Foundation Scholarships or other types of aid.
  • If possible and requested by Donor, the scholarship award will be presented to students at the Registered Nursing Program Pinning Ceremony held in May of each year. 
  • If requested by Donor by March 15th of any given year, all students applying for this scholarship will be encouraged to submit any essay. The topic and suggested length of the essay will be determined by Donor at the time of the request.





Beacon Global Scholarship



The priority deadline for this scholarship is March 1. Late applicants can be considered after that date pending available funds.
  • First preference is to award this scholarship to returning Beacon Global Scholarship recipients who meet all requirements and reapply the second year by the priority scholarship deadline.
  • Students must be enrolled in a credit program offered at the College.
  • Students must be enrolled and in good standing in the Global Scholars Honors Program.
  • Preference will be given to students also enrolled in Honors courses.
  • Preference will be given to students enrolled a minimum of twelve credit hours each semester, unless program is approved for less.
  • Students enrolled a minimum of six credit hours each semester may also qualify for this scholarship at the full award amount.
  • This award may cover a student’s unmet need up to their cost of attendance.
  • Students must maintain a minimum cumulative college GPA of 3.25.

Ben Hamilton Motorsports Club Memorial Scholarship



The priority deadline for this scholarship is March 1. Late applicants can be considered after that date pending available funds.
  • Students must be enrolled in a Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT) program.
  • Preference is for this scholarship to be awarded second or third semester.
  • Students must be enrolled full-time each semester.
  • Recipients should be an active member of Skills USA, such as a chapter officer, state officer, or competitor.
  • This award may cover a student’s unmet need up to their cost of attendance.
  • Students must maintain a minimum cumulative college GPA of 3.0.
  • International students are eligible.
  • Students with existing post-secondary degrees are eligible.
  • One of the required references must be provided by a TCAT instructor.

Betsy Green Memorial Nursing Scholarship



The priority deadline for this scholarship is March 1. Late applicants can be considered after that date pending available funds.
  • Must be enrolled in the Registered Nursing Program.
  • Maintain a minimum cumulative College GPA of 2.5.
  • Preparing to enter the second year of the RN Program.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Be enrolled at least 12 semester hours, unless program is approved for less.
  • May be awarded with other Foundation Scholarships or other types of aid.
  • Students with existing postsecondary degrees are eligible.
  • If possible and requested by donor, the scholarship award will be presented to students at the RN Pinning Ceremony held in May of each year.
  • Preference will be given to students who submit a 300-500 word essay. The topic for the essay is “How do you see yourself as a nurse?” The essay should focus on the following traits that were characteristic of Betsy Green as a nursing educator. The traits include: striving for excellence in providing patient care; demonstrating caring and compassionate qualities; exhibiting outstanding communication and listening skills; and exemplifying professional behavior. The essays will be reviewed by a group consisting of at least two Registered Nursing faculty members and a member of the Betsy Green family, if available. After review, the above referenced group will make a recommendation of potential candidates to the College's Scholarship Selection Committee.

  • Must be enrolled in Ornamental Horticulture, Landscape & Turf Management or other related program.
  • Must be a resident of Hamilton County, TN.
  • Maintain a minimum cumulative College GPA of 3.0.





Bright Futures Scholarship



  • Students must be enrolled in a credit, certificate or technical diploma program offered at the College including, but not limited to, Tennessee College of Applied Technology programs.
  • First preference is to award this scholarship to returning scholarship recipients who reapply the second year by the priority scholarship deadline.
  • Students must be from one of the Chattanooga area’s low income schools, including, but not limited to, the following: Brainerd High School, East Ridge High School, Hixson High School, Howard High School, Red Bank High School, or Tyner High School.
  • Scholarships will be awarded up to the cost of attendance.
  • Preference will be given to students enrolled a minimum of twelve (12) credit hours each semester, unless the program is approved for less.
  • Part-time students enrolled a minimum of six (6) credit hours also qualify for this scholarship at the full award amount.
  • Entering freshmen must have a minimum GPA of 2.0.

Carole Daniel Accounting Scholarship

Chatt State Honors Study Abroad Scholarship

  • First preference for this award will be given to students who are taking part in a Chatt State Honors study abroad course.
  • Students must be enrolled in a credit program offered at the College.

  • This scholarship is for undocumented students only. It will provide an equitable educational pathway by removing the tuition barrier for undocumented high school students taking dual enrollment courses at Chattanooga State.
  • Preference will be given to qualified students enrolled in the MicroColleges (currently this includes Howard, East Ridge, and Hixson High Schools) and Future Ready Institutes.

Empowerment Grant



Eligibility Criteria:
  • TN resident (any exceptions will be reviewed on an individualized basis in accordance with Chattanooga State and/or TBR policies).
    • If a student receives an Out-of-State Waiver from Chattanooga State, that student can be considered in-state for the purposes of Empowerment grant qualification.
  • Minimum 2.0 high school or college (semester and cumulative) GPA or a minimum score of 450 on the GED or HiSET.
  • Students must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours per semester.
  • Students with existing associate’s or bachelor’s degrees are not eligible.
  • Students must meet United States Department of Education Satisfactory Academic Progress standards.
    • 67% completion rate for all college courses attempted.
    • Minimum 2.0 GPA after 24 attempted credits.
    • Cannot exceed 90 attempted credits (150% of program length).
  • Student must file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and have unmet financial need as determined by the FAFSA. Preference is given to those with less than 5000 SAI.
  • Students may not receive Empowerment for more than four total semesters.
 
AND meet at least one of the following conditions: 
  • Federal Student Aid -- Must have unmet need to qualify with priority to students who are also pell eligible with high unmet need.
  • First Generation – neither parent possesses a bachelor’s degree as indicated on the scholarship application or FAFSA.
  • Reduced Access schools – schools within the college’s six-county service area, identified based on low registration rates as defined by institutional enrollment data and high rates of need as defined by FAFSA records.
  • Rural Service Area – such as outlying regions, counties, or towns outside of the urban or metropolitan Chattanooga area from which students would have to commute.
  • Experiencing Extenuating Circumstances – such as personal, financial, medical, or tuition-based difficulties or emergencies that would prevent attending college or maintaining enrollment without an Empowerment Grant.

The Max McKenzie Art Scholarship was given in memory of William Maxwell McKenzie. Max spent most of his life in the Chattanooga, Tennessee area. He spent numerous years serving our nation in the United States Army, Air Force and National Guard. A commercial photographer by trade, Max owned and operated McKenzie Studios for many years. His lifelong passion was painting and he left behind numerous treasured landscapes and portraits.

  • If possible and requested by donor, the scholarship award will be presented to students at the RN Pinning Ceremony held in May of each year.

Southeast Bank Scholarship

  • The intent is to award two scholarships to students beginning the first year of a two-year academic program, and two scholarships to the returning prior recipients beginning the second year of a two-year academic program.
  • Returning students who received this scholarship the previous year and are preparing to enter the second year of a program will be given first preference for this award.
  • Students must be enrolled in one of the following degree programs at the college:
    • First preference will be to award students enrolled in the Business Department with a major in Accounting A.A.S., Business A.A.S, Accounting A.S., Business Administration A.S., Finance A.S., or Management A.S.
    • Second preference will be to award students enrolled in any Nursing and Allied Health Department program.
    • Third preference will be to award students enrolled in a Social and Behavioral Sciences Department education program i.e. Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, and Secondary Education.

  • Students must be eligible for employment in the State of Tennessee.
  • This scholarship is intended for unemployed or underemployed students only.
  • Students must have financial need based on one or more of the following:
    • Can demonstrate that income is at the poverty level based on federal definitions.
    • Currently receiving any social service benefits or assistance (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Programs/SNAP, Supplemental Security Income /SSI, Earned Income Tax Credit/EITC, Housing Assistance, Welfare programs based on family income).
    • Children or household receiving free or reduced lunch.
  • Students with existing post-secondary degrees are eligible for this scholarship.
  • Students must complete the personal statement portion of the application. In 50 words or less: How will this scholarship help you achieve your career and personal goals?
  • Students receiving this scholarship are encouraged to compose a thank you note referencing the name of the scholarship and indicating their course work and mail to:  The Chattanooga State Foundation, 4501 Amnicola Highway, Chattanooga, Tennessee 37406.
